BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's volleyball team put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season after sweeping Centenary (N.J.), 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-6), in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match Wednesday night in Asplundh Field House.
Hannah Dewees continued her strong play as she racked up 17 kills and a season-best hitting percentage of .448. Alliana Brock contributed seven kills without an error, while Briana Cliney added seven kills and committed just one error.
As a team, Bryn Athyn (5-12, 3-2 CSAC) posted a season-best hitting percentage of .362 (40-11-80).
The Lions broke out what was a tight opening set with 9-3 surge to take a 24-16 advantage on a Juritsch kill, one of three that she had during the match. Dewees led the surge with three of her seven set-one kills. After the Cyclones won consecutive points, Dewees ended the set with her seventh kill.
Bryn Athyn had a more comfortable time in set two thanks to an 8-1 run to begin the set. The Lions were aided by five Cyclone errors. With the lead sitting at 13-8, Bryn Athyn rattled off seven straight points—including three consecutive Juritsch aces—to widen the gap to 20-8.
In the final set, Bryn Athyn hit .571 with 13 kills and only one error and forced Centenary into six attach errors. Dewees had seven kills in the final set, while Cliney added three kills.
Centenary (0-13, 0-6 CSAC) was paced by Leandra Garcia's six kills and three digs.
Bryn Athyn travels to Cedar Crest for a CSAC showdown on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.
